Common Types Of HVAC Equipment And Their Uses According To Climates

HVAC systems can be quite confusing because you will find many different sizes, parts and types. How to determine which one is suitable for your living space? Here are four common types that you can buy from HVAC equipment sales so read through and make your choice.

Standard Split HVAC

This system consists of one component located in side and the other on the outside. It is the most popularly used HVAC system for homes. Depending on the prevailing climate and demand, you can configure the system in different ways.

·       A gas furnace is employed by most systems and only a few has oil furnace. Gas furnace can provide 80 to 98% efficiency and is most suited for both warmer and colder climates. It is cost effective system and its key component is the evaporator coil which is always located inside the furnace cabinet while the condensing unit is installed outside. The systems are ranged according to their efficiency and you can buy higher SEER rating if you are experiencing warmer climates.

·       Ductless split systems or mini split systems can either have an air conditioner outside just for cooling or a heat pump for both cooling and heating. With split systems furnace is not an option. A fan located in the indoor unit disperses processed air and the system can be easily installed on walls.

·      Heat pump split systems are deployed in warmer regions commonly and freezing climates are rarely experienced. Here the system instead of using a furnace and air conditioner uses only a heat pump. Heat pump can reverse the functioning of an air-conditioner when the climate gets colder.

·       Split systems with furnace and heat pump are known as hybrid heat systems or dual fuel systems. This system is proper for colder regions and the heat pump disperse heat when it is moderately cold. The system simply switches over to furnace when it goes to freezing point.
